If you are looking for a post where you can make a difference and work with a positive, welcoming group of people, then please consider joining our school. We are looking for an enthusiastic Caretaker who takes pride in their work. The post holder be responsible for the tidiness of the grounds, maintenance and security of the school.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

    • some understanding of Health and Safety requirements including Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) (full training will be provided)

    • the ability to identify work priorities

    • able to undertake routine maintenance, basic repairs and DIY tasks (School experience is not required)

    • Some literacy, numeracy and ICT skills are desirable to meet the record keeping requirements of the post.

The post holder should be able to act on their own initiative working with the Head of School and School Business Manager to ensure the security and safety of the school premises and grounds. The working times are negotiable and may therefore suit a candidate who has other commitments.

Duties will include; ensuring the school premises is neat and tidy, liaising with contractors, advising when large repairs are needed, carrying out small maintenance repairs and completing health and safety checks.

We are a half-form entry Church of England Primary School based in the village of Hadlow Down. We are partnered with the Sussex Spires Federation alongside All Saints’ & St Richard’s CE Primary School and Herstmonceux CE Primary School. We have a strong working relationship where we share good practice, experiences and support one another.

This post is covered by the Childcare Disqualification Regulations 2018.

The school will need to ensure that they are not knowingly employing a person who is disqualified under the 2018 Regulations in connection with relevant childcare provision. Accordingly, the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate to the school, by completing a self-declaration form as part of the pre-employment checks process, that they have not been disqualified under the 2018 Regulations.

If the preferred candidate is found to be disqualified under the 2018 Regulations, the offer of employment will be subject to the application by the preferred candidate to Ofsted for a waiver and the receipt of a waiver from Ofsted.
