Our Environment Division:

Our Environment business provides ‘source to sea’ asset delivery capability across the UK and Scotland, working on both frameworks and standalone projects. Since AMP3, we have delivered more than £2bn of assets for major water clients including Yorkshire Water, United Utilities, Anglian Water, Thames Water, Southern Water, Welsh Water and Scottish Water.

Purpose of the Role:

As HS&E Advisor, you will support the Framework HS&E Manager on all health, safety and environmental matters across the region. You will help embed our HS&E strategy and ensure our projects are delivered to the highest safety and environmental standards.

You will play a key role in supporting operational teams, driving behavioural change, and ensuring legal and internal compliance across our projects.


Key Accountabilities:

    • Promote a strong, inclusive HS&E culture across all operational activities
    • Support the implementation of HS&E strategy and systems across the framework
    • Embed Galliford Try’s behavioural programme “Challenging Beliefs, Affecting Behaviours”
    • Provide technical HS&E advice and support to site and project teams
    • Ensure effective implementation of the HS&E Management System
    • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including clients, supply chain and regulators
    • Monitor performance using HS&E KPIs and support continuous improvement
    • Support incident investigations and ensure effective close out of actions
    • Report HS&E performance and issues to the Framework HS&E Manager
    • Undertake site inspections, audits and compliance checks

About You:

You will bring previous experience in a similar HS&E role within construction, infrastructure, utilities or a related industry. You will be confident working in an operational environment and building positive relationships across teams.

You will have:

    • NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate (or working towards)
    • Experience within a regulated or infrastructure environment (water industry desirable)
    • Good understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence operations positively
    • A proactive and solutions-focused approach
    • Competency in Microsoft Office systems
    • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regionally

Desirable:

    • Member of IOSH or IIRSM
    • Working towards TechIOSH / CMIOSH
    • NVQ Level 3 or above in a relevant discipline
