Buxted Church of England Primary School is looking for an enthusiastic Individual Needs Assistant (INA) to work across our Year Reception and Year1 Team. Buxted is a thriving rural primary with a committed, friendly staff. We have motivated happy children who are rewarding to work with and supportive families. We are surrounded by beautiful grounds and the school is well resourced.

You'll be working closely with the class teachers and teaching assistants sharing the support of a Year Reception and Year1 pupil, helping them flourish and develop independent learning skills.

We need someone who is:

    • Compassionate and caring with a good sense of fun.
    • Patient and intuitive - understanding when to encourage pupil independence and when to step in and support learning.
    • Able to maintain a consistent calm approach to behaviour management.
    • Happy to follow the lead of the teacher but able to recognise the unique needs of each child.
    • Happy to work on a 1:1 with the children but also with small groups.
    • Able to follow advice from outside agencies and put it into practice in the classroom and in individual sessions.
    • Able to engage warmly and confidently with parents.

Experience of working with children with additional needs would be useful, but showing a willingness to develop your knowledge and enthusiasm to work as part of our team will be viewed very positively.

Working Hours: Monday, and Thursday, 9.00am – 3.00pm, with the possibility of additional hours on either a Wednesday or Friday on a claims basis.

Individual Needs Assistant is Grade 3, Scale Point 7

Midday Supervisory Assistant is Grade 2, Scale Point 4

Applicants will also need to participate in whole school activities and to support the daily work and ethos of a Church of England Primary School.

If you're successful, you'll be working with a supportive, friendly and inclusive team who enjoy the uniquely rewarding challenges and opportunities that teaching has to offer.

Visits are warmly welcomed.

The email address stated will be monitored over the Christmas break and application forms and questions can be answered by email throughout the holiday.

Interview Date: To be confirmed.
