What You Need to Know

We are seeking a highly capable Project Quality Engineer to ensure project quality requirements are clearly defined, implemented, and maintained from project handover through to final product dispatch.

You will be responsible for ensuring customers receive a compliant, high-quality product delivered on time, while protecting business interests through effective, risk-based quality control decisions. The role involves close coordination with internal teams, suppliers, third-party inspection agencies, and client representatives throughout design, manufacture, inspection, and release phases.

This role will be based at our Subsea Centre of Excellence in Great Yarmouth. Due to the nature of the role, you will be office based with some ad-hoc travel to support supplier witnessing - please note that this could be potentially short notice. You will be required to hold a full driving license and have access to a vehicle.

What We Are Looking For

Some of the Key Accountabilities:

    • Attend project handover and design review meetings to ensure full understanding of quality requirements and lessons learned

    • Review, generate, approve, and monitor Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Project Execution Plans, and Quality Plans

    • Support the generation, review, and approval of PMI and Welding Packs

    • Manage Notifications of Inspection (NOI) and attend internal and supplier witnessing activities

    • Review material certification against project requirements

    • Verify systems against approved P&ID and GA drawings

    • Review and approve test procedures, calibration and test certificates, and Inspection Release Notes

    • Support QC activities by performing quality inspections including dimensional, visual, welding, paint, surface finish, PMI, and final inspection

    • Conduct document reviews, expediting activities, and product release

    • Record, manage, and close internal and supplier non-conformances

    • Coordinate daily with Third Party Inspection Agencies and client inspectors

    • Work collaboratively with client representatives to ensure punch list activity is fair, objective, and manageable

    • Compile product dossiers and Manufacturing Record Books in line with project SDRL requirements and delivery schedules

    • Generate project quality reports for management and clients

    • Issue Quality Alerts to share lessons learned and best practices

Continuous Improvement & Governance

    • Promote and apply continuous improvement methodologies such as Poka-Yoke, MSA, SPC, PFMEA, and Lean

    • Proactively manage non-conformances, ensuring effective root cause analysis and permanent corrective actions

    • Audit the effectiveness of corrective actions and lead investigations into adverse quality or delivery trends

    • Collect and analyse quality data to identify Opportunities for Improvement (OFI) and monitor Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)

    • Escalate significant risks or negative trends to the Quality Manager as required

Audits & Compliance

    • Carry out internal audits as allocated

    • Support external audits from accreditation bodies

    • Lead client audits where directly related to assigned projects

    • Support supplier audits to monitor and improve supplier quality performance

    • Maintain adherence to the Global Business Management System (GBMS)

Qualifications / Skills & Experience

Essential

    • HNC, City & Guilds Licentiateship, BTEC Higher Professional Diploma, NVQ Level 4, or equivalent qualification in Engineering or Quality

    • Demonstrated competency through experience within an Oil & Gas Engineer-to-Order business, or a low-volume / high-complexity manufacturing environment

Preferred

    • ISO 9001 Internal or Lead Auditor qualification

    • CSWIP 3.1 – Welding Inspector

    • NDT Level II (RT, PT, UT, MT, VT) to ASNT TC 1A, ANSI/ASNT CP-106:2008, or ISO 9712

    • BGAS or NACE Coating Inspector qualification

Experience

Essential

    • Proven experience in Inspection, Quality Control, and/or Quality Assurance within Oil & Gas or a demonstrably transferable industry

Preferred

    • Experience supporting contracts or tendering activities

    • Experience in document and data management systems (e.g. D365, MS Office or similar platforms)

Core Competencies

    • Inspection Skills: Dimensional, visual, welding, paint, surface finish, and final product release

    • Documentation & Review: ITPs, Quality Plans, calibration/test certificates, material certification, engineering drawings, Manufacturing Record Books, and quality packs

    • Quality Assurance: Root Cause Analysis, non-conformance management, internal and external audits, ISO 9001 compliance

    • Risk & Standards: Risk identification and mitigation; understanding of relevant industry standards and certifications

    • Continuous Improvement: Process improvement, COPQ awareness, production readiness

    • Communication & Collaboration: Strong ability to engage with internal teams, suppliers, clients, and third-party inspectors
