Do you want to work in a varied and challenging role focused on managing flood risk in East Sussex? If so, we are recruiting for a Senior Flood Resilience Officer as part of our busy Flood Risk Management Team

We are looking for a qualified and experienced individual, who will deal with a variety of workstreams including commenting on the flood risk implications of major development proposals, developing a flood risk strategy for the county, and assisting with the determination of ordinary watercourse consents. You will also be involved in seeking out and securing funding opportunities for flood resilience projects in the county as well as acting as project manager. Mentoring and coaching of junior members of the team will also feature.

We are looking for candidates who:

    • Experience of working in a Lead Local Flood Authority
    • Advanced GIS analytical skills and experience of using QGIS, GRASS, and similar analytical tools
    • Can work to deadlines whilst managing a diverse caseload
    • Ability to communicate effectively with a range of people in a clear, concise and accurate manner, changing messages and/or style to suit different audiences
    • Ability to analyse, interpret and clearly present data, some of which may be complex
