What You Need to Know
We are seeking a proactive and commercially aware Service Project Engineer to manage the delivery of service projects from initiation through to completion. You will ensure service scopes are executed safely, on schedule, and within budget, while acting as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
This is a fast-paced, client-facing role requiring strong organisational skills, commercial control, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a dynamic service environment.
The role is based at our Subsea Centre of Excellence in Great Yarmouth.
What We Are Looking For
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Act as the primary point of contact for assigned service projects, managing all client communication, documentation, and deliverables in line with contractual requirements
Coordinate internal departments including engineering, supply chain, workshop, logistics, and operations to ensure aligned and timely delivery
Prioritise service activities and resource allocation to meet client requirements while balancing capacity and ongoing workloads
Oversee mobilisation of service personnel, equipment, and materials in collaboration with the Service Coordinator and Service Team Lead
Create and manage parts and activities within the ERP system (D365) and coordinate procurement of components and consumables
Coordinate and conduct pre-mobilisation briefings and post-job debriefs, ensuring work scope, HSE expectations, lessons learned, and improvement actions are clearly communicated
Provide ongoing support to service personnel deployed on client sites, resolving technical, logistical, or scope-related issues promptly
Manage project financial performance including cost tracking, margin control, variations, invoicing milestones, and forecasting
Prepare and submit quotations and variation requests, coordinating input across engineering, procurement, and commercial teams
Participate in client meetings, providing progress updates, forecasts, and issue resolution plans
Identify service opportunities, extensions, or repeat work, supporting opportunity tracking and client relationship management
Identify risks and opportunities early, escalating concerns to mitigate impact on safety, delivery, or cost
Support continuous improvement initiatives by capturing lessons learned and contributing feedback
Participate in the Service Department on-call Rota, providing out-of-hours project and client support when required.
Preferred Technical Involvement
Depending on experience and workload, the role may also include:
Review and approve supplier documentation for technical and commercial compliance
Prepare and issue project documentation such as work packs, FAT procedures, test procedures, and technical reports
Specify and procure specialist or application-specific components, ensuring compliance with technical and client requirements
Provide technical input to quotations and estimates, supporting scope definition, durations, equipment, materials, and resourcing
Qualifications / Skills & Experience
Essential
Proven experience in project delivery or coordination within a technical or service-based industry
Strong commercial awareness with the ability to manage budgets, forecasts, and invoicing milestones
Excellent client-facing and communication skills, both written and verbal
Highly organised with strong multitasking and prioritisation capabilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general ERP or project management tools
Strong attention to detail with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
Ability to coordinate multiple workstreams across departments in a deadline-driven environment
Preferred
Experience within the Oil & Gas or energy service sector
Familiarity with subsea control systems or related control equipment
Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar ERP systems
Understanding of technical documentation such as FAT procedures, datasheets, and test records
Experience in quotation preparation, variation control, and project cost tracking
HNC or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline (Engineering, Project Management, Business)
Alternatively, significant experience in a technical project delivery or service coordination role
